Unexpected Passion: An OWYM Anthology

Older women, younger men, and every trope you crave.
These women have zero patience for fairytale scripts or mediocre men. They’ve built lives, buried heartbreak, and rewritten every rule that claims love has a shelf life. But when a younger man sees her—all of her, from polished confidence to raw vulnerability—he doesn’t hesitate. He’s not just younger. He’s obsessed.
From one-night stands and a workplace fling that risks everything to secret crushes igniting in small-town bars, cabins, or conference rooms, these stories bring flirty banter, explosive chemistry, and “touch her and die” devotion. He’s the best friend who never stopped loving her. The firefighter who saves more than lives. The intern who calls her “ma’am” with a smirk and a plan.
She’s smarter, off-limits, and labeled “too much” by men who never measured up. But to him? She’s the one who rewrites his world. Whether it’s a small-town reboot, a high-stakes second chance, or a fling that refuses to fade, every story delivers a forever kind of love that proves this: love doesn’t follow timelines—it shatters them.

My contribution to this anthology: Hometown Probie
She never planned to fall for a younger man.
He never expected to fight for a future with her.
At thirty-nine, Stella sought stability in small-town Elken Grove, not a relationship with a firefighter eleven years her junior. When she’s framed for arson after discovering something suspicious at her restaurant, twenty-eight-year-old Brandon becomes her unexpected defender.
Despite their powerful connection, Stella’s practical nature sees only obstacles: he’s building his reputation while she’s rebuilding her career; she needs security while he embodies risk. As they uncover a dangerous conspiracy together, their age gap seems insurmountable—until it becomes their strength.
“Hometown Probie” delivers a sizzling OWYM romance where experience meets passion and protection. Perfect for readers who crave mature heroines, devoted heroes, and love stories that prove some age differences are worth embracing.
♥ firefighter romance ♥ small town setting ♥ OWYM ♥ protective hero ♥ fish out of water ♥ bad boy reformed ♥ found family ♥ reverse age gap ♥ dash of danger ♥

Excerpt
“I should probably get going,” Stella said eventually, checking her watch. “I have some job applications to submit.”
“You’re not waiting to see what happens with The Homestead?” Brandon asked, surprised.
“Even if I’m completely cleared, I doubt Martha’s going to rehire me,” Stella pointed out. “And I can’t afford to be unemployed for long.”
Brandon nodded, understanding her practical approach. “Where are you looking?”
“Asheville, Charlotte, maybe Atlanta again,” she replied. “I came to Elken Grove for a change of pace, but maybe it’s time to head back to a city.” She paused, a shadow crossing her face. “I’d hate to sell my house, though. It’s the first place I’ve ever actually owned. I’ve put so much work into that garden.”
The thought of her leaving town created an unexpected pang of disappointment in Brandon. “Well, if you need any local insights while you’re figuring things out, I’m around.”
“I appreciate that,” Stella said, and she seemed to mean it. “It’s nice to have someone who doesn’t think I’m a criminal mastermind.”
“Low bar,” Brandon joked, “but I’ll take it.”
As they stood to leave, their movements caught Justin’s attention from his corner table. He gave Brandon a thumbs-up that was about as subtle as a fire alarm.
“And so it begins,” Stella murmured, noticing the gesture.
“Sorry about that,” Brandon said, feeling his ears warm with embarrassment.
“Don’t worry about it,” Stella replied with a shrug. “I doubt I’ll be around long enough for it to matter.”
As they walked out together, Brandon found himself hoping she was wrong about that. He’d enjoyed their conversation more than he’d expected, and the thought of Stella leaving Elken Grove before he had a chance to know her better felt like a missed opportunity.
“I could help you look into what happened,” he offered as they stood outside the coffee shop. “As a firefighter, I have some insight into how fire investigations work. Plus, I grew up here—I know how to read between the lines when people in town talk.”
“Why would you do that?” Stella asked, genuine curiosity in her expression.
Brandon considered his answer carefully. The truth was, he wasn’t entirely sure himself. Part of it was that he understood what it felt like to be judged unfairly. Part of it was professional curiosity about the fire. And part of it—a growing part—was that he simply wanted to see her again.
“Let’s just say I know what it’s like when the town decides who you are without giving you a fair chance,” he said finally. “It’s not right.”
Stella studied him for a long moment, then nodded. “Alright. I appreciate the help.”
