My Reading Nook on Goodreads

Sometimes you reach a point where you realize you’ve been keeping yourself in a comfortable bubble, and it’s time to try something new. That moment came for me this week when I decided to create “Ella Braeme’s Reading Nook” on Goodreads.
As someone who writes under a pen name and tends to stay behind the scenes, the idea of starting my own reading group felt both exciting and terrifying. I’ve always been more comfortable connecting one-on-one through emails or quiet interactions on Instagram. But lately, I’ve been thinking about the magic that happens when readers find each other.
The Beautiful Thing About Book Communities
There’s something special about finding people who understand your book obsessions. You know that feeling when you finish a particularly swoony romance and you’re practically vibrating with the need to discuss it with someone who gets it? Or when you discover a new author and immediately want to share the treasure with fellow book lovers?
That’s what I’m hoping to create with this little corner of Goodreads. A place where readers of steamy small-town romance can gather without judgment, where we can celebrate our love for protective heroes and strong heroines finding their happily-ever-afters in places like my fictional Elken Grove.
Why Now?
I’ve been writing romance for a while now, connecting with readers through newsletters and social media, but I’ve always felt like there was something missing. The conversations I have with individual readers through email are wonderful, but they’re isolated moments. What if those readers could find each other? What if the person who loves firefighter romances could discover the reader who’s obsessed with mountain men? What if we could create a space where recommendations flow freely and new reading friendships bloom?
The truth is, finding your reading tribe can transform your entire book experience. Some of my best reading discoveries have come through recommendations from fellow romance lovers who understand exactly what I’m looking for.
Building Something Together
I’ll be honest—I have no idea what I’m doing with this group yet. But that’s part of the adventure, isn’t it? I’m hoping it becomes a place where we can share favorite reads, discuss what makes us swoon, and maybe even get sneak peeks at upcoming releases.
Maybe we’ll do read-alongs of classic romances. Maybe we’ll have discussions about our favorite tropes (I’m personally team protective hero and second-chance romance). Maybe we’ll just become a place where people feel comfortable saying, “I need something with a grumpy hero who’s secretly soft” and trust that someone will have the perfect recommendation.
For the Introverts Among Us
If you’re like me and tend to lurk more than participate, that’s perfectly okay too. Some of the best community members are the ones who quietly read every post, dropping in with the perfect comment or recommendation at just the right moment. There’s no pressure to be the most active member—just show up in whatever way feels comfortable for you.
Come Find Us
If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to have you join our little reading nook. We’re just getting started, which means you’d be in on the ground floor of building something special together. Plus, there’s something wonderful about being part of a small community where everyone’s voice matters.
You can find Ella Braeme’s Reading Nook on Goodreads, or feel free to reach out to me directly if you have questions. I’m still figuring out all the features and possibilities, but I’m excited to learn alongside fellow book lovers.
After all, the best adventures—whether in books or in life—are the ones we take together.
